After their huge successful opening month, Main Event at Christiana town center, Newark Delaware, has decided to change a few of their pricing options... If you look up the website for Main Event, in general you will see a list of specials and options for packages. However, two pricing options that were offered at Main Event in Newark, are now off of their menu. On the website, a huge colorful sign pops out at you, stating an offer of unlimited play pass of bowling, billiards, and laser tag. Then, right underneath, in parentheses, it's states: not available in Newark Delaware. Talking with a worker at the Newark location, we found out they had this as part of their venue when they opened, but cancelled it as of Thursday, April 5th. The second discrepancy was their bowling options. When they first opened, we were told the price to rent a lane was for a two hour rental, for up to 6 people. On April 7, when we spoke with a member of their staff, we were told it is only for one hour. With 6 people, one hour is barely enough time to play one game. Perhaps they are trying to lower the amount of customers. After all, with their huge successful opening, they frequently needed to post a sign stating, "at maximum capacity", and turned people away. Or, perhaps, they are hoping that only certain clientele, within a hire financial grade, will frequent their venue, since dropping their unlimited special, and doubling the price of a 2hour bowling slot. Whatever their reasons, I'm sure they will continue with their success, as they are located near the Christiana Mall. However, they should be cautious, and not forget that they do have competition. Right in Middletown, DE, Family Fun Galaxy, although not as big as Main Event, is still going strong. And, let's not forget, Dave and Buster's has three locations, surrounding the Delaware area. Lastly, NJ has an indoor/outdoor entertainment complex called Funplex. This amusement center has everything Main Event offers, plus rides, (open year round), and an outdoor water park, during the summer. So whether planning a fun time with the family, or booking for that special party, check out all of your options, before just settling for the new local flavor.
